Joe Hencmann

I have been making ice cream since 1993. My first job was at 15 years old as a scooper at a locally owned ice cream shop in Denver, CO called Bonnie Brae Ice Cream. I began making ice cream at 19 years old. I worked for BBIC for about 22 years where we won numerous awards for best ice cream.  I learned early that my passion was making delicious creamy ice cream and ensuring a superb customer experience. I continue to challenge myself with new ingredients and new flavor profiles, especially given our rich agricultural location in Sonoma Valley. Hearing people say they love our ice cream is the best feeling and I feel good knowing that my use of premium ingredients, my creativity, and the fact that it's made fresh and small batch daily ensures that each bite is creamy, high quality ice cream.

I love people, I love building teams, and I love creating joy.  My life goals have always been to be authentic and to be happy. Creating and building an ice cream shop with our family means that we create and sell happiness with a focus on the customer experience.  I enjoyed my job in the corporate sector planning projects, implementing training and processes, and communicating change so it brings me joy to be able to leverage that experience as we build our brand and business.
